How this software came about

In 1995, the author was engaged by Leicester University (in the UK) to develop user-interface software for a research radar. This was delivered towards the end of 1997, and included a C++/Motif application framework, based on that described in Douglas A. Young's 'Object-Oriented Programming with C++ and OSF/Motif' (second edition).

The following year, as part of a suitability-of-Java study funded by Rutherford Laboratory (also in the UK), this was partially re-written by the author in Java.

The author was later engaged at the aforementioned (EISCAT Svalbard) radar, where a Java version of the software was developed.

Since the end of 2001, this development has been carried-on by the author independently.
